WisCornsin Calico Bean Bake

  • 8 ounces sliced bacon, diced
  • 8 ounces lean ground beef
  • 1 cup chopped onion
  • 1 can (16 ounces) pork and beans
  • 1 can (15 to 16 ounces) red beans or kidney beans
  • 1 can (15 to 16 ounces) lima beans or butter beans
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • ½ cup water
  • 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoon dry mustard
  • 1 teaspoon vinegar

 

PREPARATION:

In a skillet, brown the bacon with the ground beef and onions until meat is browned and onion is tender. Drain well. Mix beef and bacon mixture with remaining ingredients; transfer to a 2 1/2 to 3-quart casserole. Bake in a preheated 350° oven for 45-50 minutes.
Serves 8.

 

Note: Increase Beef and Bacon to one pound if you like.
